A row over a woman turned deadly when one man shot the other dead Saturday morning.

Head of the Central Detective Unit (CDU), Superintendent Paul Rolle told reporters on Saturday that the men know each other and were arguing over a woman when the shootings occurred.

The Bahama Journal understands that the victim is 27-year-old Geneo Tynes of Montell Heights.

A 49-year-old man is now being questioned in connection with the incident.

“Sometime around 9:45 a.m. police control room received reports of gunshots being fired in the Buttonwood Avenue area in Pinewood Gardens,” he said.

“Officers responded where they found a male suffering from a gunshot injury to the head. Shortly after that we received information of another being shot to the chest through St. Luke’s Avenue. Preliminary investigations reveal that both men were in an argument when one of them produced a handgun and shot the other. We have a male in custody for questioning and we believe that he is responsible for this latest incident.”

When The Journal arrived on the scene, several of Tynes’ family members were overcome with grief.

In fact, as the hearse was about to leave the scene several of Tynes’ family members tried to stop it and starting hitting on the back window with their hands.

One lady could be heard saying,” Let me see my brother; I want to see his body; that’s my Geneo!”

Superintendent Rolle could not say what type of gun was used.

He also did not want to confirm whether the victim or suspect are known to police.

Deputy Commander of the Southeastern Division, Kipling Rolle, encouraged people to come forward with any information that could assist the police.

“We continue to patrol these areas with Urban Renewal officers and we are asking members of the public to come forward and help us solve this matter and any other matters,” he said.

“We have had some crime in this area but it is on the decline and we will continue to do our best to keep the crime at a minimum.”

This is the fourth homicide for the week.

On Wednesday night, 23-year-old Abayomi Sergeant was gunned down shortly after he left a Roots Junkanoo practice.

The country’s homicide count now stands at 90 for the year.
