Travis Davis, 25, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Friday with four counts of murder and seven counts of attempted murder.

During the arraignment, Davis claimed his innocence by shouting he didn’t do it and said he was railroaded while exiting the Nassau Street Police Station. 

Waiting outside court, were the families of some of the victims, who recorded Davis and shouted profanity at him. 

In fact, prior to Davis being escorted to court, the families were waiting on the court lawn to get a shot of him before being removed by police. The accused and the families had a back and forth before he entered the courtroom inside.

While approaching Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt, Davis said, “They’re lying on me.” 

It’s alleged that on September 6, Davis murdered Franklyn Roll, Dwight Miller, Jimmy Augustine and Marcus Sweeting and attempted to kill Portia Smith, Everette Richardson, Alvin Saunders, Nester Mackey, Jarrette Smith, Tavia Brown and Jerrinique Roberts in four separate shooting incidents. 

While reading the charges, the Labor Street resident broke down crying and needed a moment before proceeding. 

Davis was not required to enter a plea and denied bail. He will receive a voluntary bill of indictment on December 11 and was remanded at the Bahamas Department of Corrections.  

His lawyer asked if his client could be placed under protective care as the matter is gang-related and may lead to retaliation by gang members. 

Ferguson-Pratt said she has no authority over the prison commission as to where to place him and added that she would make a note to the commissioner about the nature of the matter.
