The Department of Rehabilitative Welfare Services announced this past weekend that the displaced persons registration desk at Odyssey Aviation is closed.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the department indicated that the registration desk was headed by “a collective group of private citizens, partners and NGO’s in collaboration with the Department of Social Services.”
The registration desk was also staffed by more than 50 trained volunteers working on shifts, registered approximately 6,854 people arriving to the capital by air from both Abaco and Grand Bahama between September 5 -13, 2019.
According to the press release, this process was used to track the movement of displaced people from the affected areas and helps to provide accurate numbers on hurricane survivors.
Displaced persons who have not registered are now advised to register at the Department of Rehabilitative Welfare Services on University Drive.
The department is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
