A 19-year-old man of Yellow Elder Gardens became the fifth person to be murdered last week after he was gunned down Friday.
According to reports, just after 11:00 p.m. the victim was sitting in a car with another man in front of a home on Major’s Road in Yellow Elder when a man approached him and opened fire.
The gunman fled on foot.
The Bahama Journal understands that the victim is Elijah Roberts.
Roberts was pronounced dead on the scene.
This killing pushes the count to 83 for the year.
Police are investigating and appealing to members of the public who may have any information to contact them at 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 328-TIPS.
This latest slaying comes just two days after 51-year-old Owen Hanna was gunned down near his home last Wednesday.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. just off Sumner Street.
Two men have since been arraigned in connection with Hanna’s death.
Baby Found Dead
Police are also investigating the death of a 17-month old baby.
Reports are that shortly after 3:30 p.m. Saturday, police received information that an infant’s body was submerged in water in a well attached to a house on Pinedale Avenue off Wulff Road.
When officers arrived they retrieved the baby’s body from the well with the assistance of residents in the area.
CPR was performed but the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
Active investigations continue.
