Two persons became the country’s latest traffic fatalities over the weekend.
In the first incident, shortly after 11:00pm on Friday, a woman was walking on Boyd Road when she was struck by a white Nissan Sentra.
The driver stopped and was enquiring on her condition, when a second vehicle came from behind, hit the woman and dragged her a short distance away.
Paramedics were called to the scene, but were unable to revive the woman.
She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle remained on the scene and is assisting police with this investigation.
However, police are appealing to the driver of the Nissan Sentra who left the scene of the accident, to contact the police as soon as possible. Investigations are ongoing.
In the second incident, Police in Grand Bahama revealed that a man that was involved in a car accident last week Thursday died in hospital on Saturday as a result of his injuries.
Reports are that on Thursday shortly after 8:00a.m, police were called to traffic accident at the junction on Grand Bahama highway and Coral Road, which involved a Red 2007 Nissan cube with three occupants and a white 2001 Honda accord with four occupants.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damages. All passengers’ sustained either serious or slight injuries and were transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital via EMS personnel.
Police are actively investigating both matters.
