A 47-year-old man of Pinewood Gardens is expected to soon appear before a magistrate after being arrested on drug possession charges.

Officers from the Central Detective Unit (CDU) were patrolling the First Street and Palm Tree Avenue area around 4:15pm Monday when they spotted the driver of a silver Honda Accord acting suspiciously.

Officers reportedly attempted to stop the vehicle; however, the driver sped off.

A chase ensued, ending in the area of Third Street and Poinciana Drive after the driver collided into a van.

A search of the van revealed five pounds of suspected marijuana.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $5,000, according to police.
