Cable Bahamas completed the last leg of its triple play services by launching its REVTV Video on-demand platform yesterday.
The platform allows customers to bring the video store to their homes as they will be able to rent hundreds of movie titles, special on-demand TV programmes and kids and local programming.
In addition, customers will also be able to access over 300 karaoke titles by clicking a button on their digital set boxes.
Marketing Director David Burrows said company officials are excited about the launch.
“We’re continuing to create new, convenient ways for our customers to experience entertainment and 500 REVTV on-demand does just that,” he said.
“We are very excited about the inclusion of our local content and now film makers like Maria Govan, Kareem Mortimer and other Bahamian filmmakers will have far greater reach into the Bahamian community with this platform.”
Officials said Cable Bahamas will feature new movie titles every month – many of which will be US DVD releases.
REVTV will feature contracts with Paramount, Disney, Warner Brothers, Fox and officials say Sony will also come on board soon.
President of Cable Bahamas Anthony Butler said the cable monopoly is always striving to ensure that Bahamians have “the latest and greatest advancements in TV entertainment and technology.”
“We also encourage parents to take advantage of the many parental control option our advanced digital boxes afford parents in both controlling purchases with their own access pin but also it helps them to ensure their children are viewing only what they want them to,” he said.
In October 2009, Cable Bahamas received a 15-year licence from the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA) that allows it to provide any type of network communications services inclusive of voice, data and video services.
In May 2011, CBL acquired SRG/Indigo to become the first triple play provider.
REVTV completes Cable Bahamas’ triple play services of REVoice, REVon and REVTV which covers telephone, internet and television.
All of the services are provided in 16 islands in The Bahamas.
