One man is dead and another left in stable condition after an early morning traffic accident caused major traffic diversions yesterday on Tonique Williams-Darling Highway near the JFK round about.
Police say shortly after 7:00 a.m. they received information of the catastrophe and upon their arrival on the scene they met a black Honda Accord Coupe vehicle severely damaged in the bushes and a white Honda Accord on the street also severely damaged.
Road Traffic Assistant Superintendent Craig Stubbs said a third passenger involved was not injured.
“What we gathered was that the white Honda vehicle was travelling west along Tonique Williams-Darling Highway and the black Honda was traveling east Tonique Williams-Darling Highway when the collision heard in the westbound traffic lane,” he said.
“Both vehicles received significant damages to the front sections.”
When the Bahama Journal arrived on the scene officials were still assessing the damages and the body of the victim had not yet been removed.
A few moments later wreckers came to clear the area.
Investigations are ongoing and motorists are reminded to drive with caution.
