The homicide count climbed over the weekend to just three shy of 100 when police found a man with gunshot wounds through a dirt road in southern New Providence.
According to reports, around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, police received a report that a man found dead through a dirt road at the rear of Hollywood Subdivision off Cowpen Road.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of a man with gunshot wounds to the head and back.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are in the early stages of their investigations and have no motive for this latest murder.
However they have launched an intense investigation into this latest shooting death.

The homicide count now stands at 97 for the year.
This latest incident follows the death of 39-year-old Alfreda Stubbs.
Stubbs was allegedly stabbed by her police officer husband last Wednesday but died from those injuries on Friday.
