Authorities apprehended 94 Haitian nationals during a joint operation between the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) and the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) off the Exuma Cays Monday.
The group, which included 79 men, 14 women and one child, was found on board a blue sailing sloop some 10 nautical miles off Darby Island, just off the Exuma Cays, the RBDF reported.
Authorities intercepted the vessel and took it to Farmer’s Cay, Exuma.
The migrants were taken into custody and subsequently to the RBDF Coral Harbour Base in New Providence where they were handed over to immigration officials for further processing.
