“All of that is to protect our border and the sovereignty of our country and the question always is; where does our obligation to protect The Bahamas end and the obligation to protect America starts?”
The prime minister was speaking to attendees of the one day Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act seminar and noted that many people coming to The Bahamas illegally, only use the country has a hub in a bid to get to the United States.
He said with the drug trade and human smuggling still proving to be formidable, the intention of the people involved in these crimes is to get to the strongest economy in the world.
“That’s why we’ve worked so hard country to country to develop strategies and levels of cooperation to ensure that we are carrying the burden das equitably as we can and sharing it as equitably as we can,” he added.
