Only a day after a teenager was gunned down, detectives were called to investigate yet another homicide in the capital late Wednesday.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson, the victim and two other men had just arrived to their car after leaving a Roots Junkanoo practice on Christie Park around 11:30 p.m. when they were approached by three men in the Base Road Bar, Nassau Street area.
“One of the men was armed with a handgun,” ACP Ferguson explained.
“The victim started to run. The gunman fired several shots, hitting the man. When officers responded, they met a male lying on the side of the road suffering from an apparent gunshot injury to his upper side.”
The victim has only been identified as a 23-year-old resident of Kennedy Subdivision.
Police have not yet determined a motive behind what is now the country’s 89th homicide – the third this week.
On Sunday, 23-year-old Keith Armbrister was killed.
Armbrister was standing in front of a Bowe Avenue, Montell Heights home around 12:30 a.m. Sunday when several people pulled up in a car and someone opened fire.
He died a short time later in hospital.
Two days later, 17-year-old Trevon Black of Meadow Street was shot to death on Dunmore Street off Hospital Lane.
