Christmas is still six months away, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the Sandals Foundation from purchasing a few high ticket items for two well deserving charities.
The foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts, recently donated 10 computers to the Bahamas AIDS Foundation and the PACE Programme.
“We are very happy to make this contribution to these two vital organisations in our community. The work of the Bahamas AIDS Foundation and the PACE Programme ensures that some of the most vulnerable members of our population are given a fighting chance at life,” said Sandals’ General Manager Patrick Drake.
The PACE Programme provides education and support to teen mothers and promotes awareness and policies that reduce both teen and unplanned pregnancies among young adults.
PACE Programme Coordinator, Jacqueline Knowles, said the donation will ensure that the young ladies are given opportunities to make positive contributions to society.
“These donations will assist our students in learning technological skills that will allow them to function effectively in society. Your organisation’s generosity is greatly appreciated,” she said.
A non-profit, non-government organisation, the AIDS Foundation is dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS. Its vision is to provide education and awareness, to assist in the prevention, treatment and cure and to provide support for people living with the deadly disease.
“We are grateful for the generosity of cooperate sponsors like the Sandals Foundation who support our work in The Bahamas,” said Board Member of the Bahamas AIDS Foundation Dr. Vaughn Conliffe.
The Sandals Foundation funds educational, community and environmental projects throughout the Caribbean.
