A man believed to be in his early twenties committed suicide Tuesday night.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hulan Hanna was on the scene and said police found the man hanging from a tree through an unpaved road off Adderley Street in Fox Hill.
Police have identified the deceased as 23-year-old Nakino Hall.
The incident took place just after 10:30 p.m.
“The tree was located in back of the yard,” Mr. Hanna said.
“He was wearing black shorts and was bareback hanging with a thick rope around his neck. His body was taken down by police. According to reports, a relative came home earlier and his attention was drawn to the tree.”
Mr. Hanna explained that police could not conclusively say what led to the incident.
“These are difficult times,” he said. “When people have their additional challenges and feel as if their backs are against the wall it can be hard. Some people do not know how to deal with these challenges.”
“We want to recommend that people find someone to talk to like a priest or someone that you have a degree of confidence in. We also want family members to look out for the signs like if a family member is depressed, seems withdrawn or talks about leaving Earth.”
