A young man lost his life and two others escaped after engaging police in a shoot
out in the Kemp Road Community on Tuesday morning shortly after 9am.
Police say they were on routine patrol when officers attached to the Mobile
Division were in the Kemp Road community when they received alerts from
ShotSpotter technology indicating gunfire in the St. James’ Road area.
Responding to the scene, officers say they observed a silver Japanese vehicle
occupied by three males. Upon noticing the police, the suspects sped off,
prompting a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended when the vehicle was intercepted
on Cooper’s Terrace.
At that point, police report that the three suspects exited the vehicle and discharged
multiple shots toward the pursuing officers.
In response, the officers who were in fear for their safety returned fire with their
service weapons, resulting in the fatal wounding of the male driver of the vehicle
that had self drive or rental plates.
The other two suspects managed to escape the scene by running through a shortcut
leading toward Whites Road.

He could be seen sitting on his motorcycle talking to someone in the yard of a
walled residence when a silver vehicle pulled up next to him and three masked
men armed with high powered weapons exited the vehicle and began firing
gunshots at him.
He tried to quickly ride off on the motorcycle but lost control after being shot
several times. One of his assailants then chased him and fired several more shots
at him at point blank range before returning to the vehicle and making good their
escape. It was the fourth murder for 2025 and remains unsolved.
This is not the first time an incident like this happened outside the very same
residence. On December 3 rd 2020 another young man was shot and killed outside
the same home.
On Saturday May 3 rd shortly after 12 midnight 31 year-old Elroy Rolle was shot to
death while sitting in a black Japanese vehicle on Williams Lane off Kemp Road
near Uriah McPhee Primary School where he was attending a party. The Culprits

A 15year-old male resident of Kemp Road has since been charged with that murder
which was at the time the 28 th murder on record for 2025.
On September 23 rd three masked gunmen emerged from a white Japanese vehicle
