An elderly woman who was shot during a home invasion at her Polhemus Street residence late last month died from her injuries Sunday.
Belpheam Lightbourne,70, was shot to the neck after three men broke into her apartment complex on May 31.
The men stole a number of electronic items and as they left the residence they opened fire striking Lightbourne to the neck.
Lightbourne never recovered from her injuries and remained hospitalised until her death Sunday afternoon.
Police arrested four people in connection with this incident.
Lightbourne’s death pushes the country’s murder count to 57 for the year.
