Dr. Roberts, a decorated Paediatrics and Child Care specialist was recognized for his "attainment of high standard of education and training and commitment to the health and welfare of children." The high authority of the award comes from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her Privy Council.

In speaking with The Bahama Journal, Dr. Roberts expressed humility and said he felt very honoured to be placed in the company of so many medical luminaries.

He said further that he "remains committed to my work in the care of children, the ones who need our attention so much.

"It is a great joy and tremendous fulfillment to make comfortable the young when they are under stress and in pain. I couldn’t have wish for a more heart-warming area of work," said Dr. Roberts.

One of the most qualified physicians worldwide, Dr. Roberts received his endorsement for the prestigious award from a medical elite. None other than Dr. John Forfar, a Retired Emeritus Professor of Child life and Health, proposed him to the Royal College.

In his communication to Royal College Secretary Len Taylor, Professor For Far said:

"I have watched Dr. Roberts’ career progress and have seen him rise to become Consultant Pediatricians, then Chief of Pediatrics in Princess Margaret Hospital in The Bahamas. He equipped himself for consultant status in Pediatrics and childcare with a series of training programmes in the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States. During a period spent in Edinburgh, he undertook a six-month hospital pediatric attachment with me as well as engaging in the Edinburgh Internal Medicine course and other postgraduate studies.

"I had the opportunity to visit him in Nassau and recognized the excellent work he was doing there in developing his department, and the position of leadership which he had achieved in promoting the highest standards of Pediatric Practice both in the hospital and in the wider field of community child health.

"He seeks to understand and to devote himself voluntarily to relieving many of the social as well as medical problems which afflict the childhood community in which he lives and works. It gives me great pleasure to propose to the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, the name of Dr. Patrick David Roberts for election to Fellowship of the College," Dr. Forfar said in his letter to Secretary Tyler.
