Justice John, who has spent more than a decade in the judiciary, was recently appointed as a resident justice of the Court of Appeal.
On Wednesday he told the Journal that he is looking forward to making a contribution to the Bahamas Court of Appeals and said he feels he is qualified to do so.
"I have had the experience sitting on the High Court bench in Trinidad and Tobago, and the Court of Appeal bench there for some years. I would say I am used to the judiciary, I have always enjoyed the judiciary, and I feel I have something to contribute," said Justice John.
Justice John served as a Court of Appeal justice in Trinidad and Tobago from July 2002 until June 2009.
During his tenure, he was considered a controversial justice.
Recently, he was criticized for publicly chastising two magistrates for the sentence and conviction they gave two men.
He was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in July, 1972. He served in private practice in Trinidad from 1972 to 1994.
Justice John was appointed a Puisne Judge of the High Court of Justice in Trinidad and Tobago.
