Casillero del Diablo a Chilean wine that is not a stranger to over 110 countries has launched four new fine wines recently.
The brand introduced two white wines and two red wines that all have the vintage of 2005. Though this brand of wine was already introduced in The Bahamas, according to Wine maker Max Weinlaub the taste of these new wines are unlike any other.
"It has a lot of fruity taste to it like gooseberry and tropical fruits," he said. "These are some aromas that you can rarely find anywhere else."
The wines include Sauvignon Blanc and Chadonnay which are white wines and Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon which are red wines.
The company’s success actually stems from an old myth.
The myth states that in the 19th century, the founder of Concha y Toro, Don Melchor, discovered that his vineyard workers were sampling his greatest wines. To discourage this action, Don Melchor, the founder of the company, spread the rumor that his deepest, darkest cellar was the Casillero del Diablo (Cellar of the Devil), so that no one would dare go in there.
It worked, and a legend was born. Today, this mysterious and legendary cellar continues to hold the finest, estate grown wines of Casillero del Diablo.
Each one of the wines is made in the Central Valley in Chile.
Mr. Weinlaub said that the Chile is one of the best places in the world for winemaking.
"With Casillero del Diablo we have been able to make wines that complete successfully with other great global brands, on a tremendously demanding niche, by using our maximum creativity and the diverse terroirs we have in Chile."
The wines have received various awards from around the world, according to Mr. Weinlaub.
Bristol Wines and Spirits are the distributors of the latest edition of the fine wines.
Rusty Scates, executive sales director of the Wine division at Bristol Wines and Spirits told arts and entertainment that the company is "very proud" to be a part of the launching of these wines.
"We are very confident in the product because this wine is constantly being upgraded," he said. "We support it because it is an extremely good product at a great price range."
Mr. Scates said that he has been personally involved with the product for the last six years.
"They are constantly improving and we are constantly doing business with them because they are innovative and most of the persons there are young and vibrant people."
He also added that even though Casillero del Diablo is a product that sells a number of other wines but Bristol chose wines that are compatible with The Bahamas.
"We have to know the taste profile of the wine so we know what will be accepted locally and of course what will be sold locally," Mr. Scates said.
Mr. Scates indicated that there will be more new wines from Casillero del Diablo in the near future.
"There are eight different varieties of wines but at the moment we only have four," he said. "We will be slowly bringing in new ones."
He said that depending on the response of these wines Bristol will bring in Carmenere and Pinot Noir.
"The wines are light tasting and very nice," Mr. Scates added.
