Valentino to Fight for CAC Gold – Boxing

Coming off a second round technical knockout over Jose Maria Virula from Guatemala in the quarter finals on Monday, last night amateur boxing star Valentino Knowles secured a spot in the gold medal round at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on Saturday night.

Knowles defeated Juan Pablo Romero from Mexico in the semi-finals on Wednesday night on points 7-5.

Fighting in the 64kg weight class Knowles jumped out to the early 4-1 lead in the first round and never looked back. In the second round each fighter scored one point, and despite being out punched 3-2 in the third round Knowles celebrated the victory as time ran out on Romero in the 93rd match of the tournament.
