Founder of the Carmichael Knockout Boxing Club Andre Seymour announced Wednesday that local amateur boxers will be busy throwing and dodging punches when the club continues its series of monthly boxing shows on Saturday October 24th beginning at 4pm at the boxing centre in Flamingo Gardens.

Boxers from the Lion's Den Boxing Club headed by Cassius Moss, and the Pinewood Boxing Club ran by Taureano Johnson will be in action competing in all age groups and weight classes.
"We still see a lot of kids joining the various amateur clubs and that shows the interest is there and that is why we try to host a show at least once a month to give the youngsters a reason to continue training and give them an opportunity to gauge their progress," said Seymour who is the National Amateur Boxing Coach.
He noted that former Bahamian amateur standout Floyd Seymour from Grand Bahama recently donated equipment to the armichael Club and that the equipment has come in handy as the numbers grow in the club.
However, he said they need even more equipment.
Asked about top amateur boxer Valentino Knowles leaving for a two-month training camp with professional boxer Meacher Major 'Pain' and Excel World Wide Promotions in Hollywood, Florida, Seymour said that he is comfortable with the idea.
"The Amateur Boxing Federation of The Bahamas gave Valentino the OK to go to the camp because they are on a break right now, and we thought it would be a good way for him to stay focused and in shape until he returns to Cuba to continue training in January," he said.
"It is also a great opportunity for him to workout in a different gym and environment and to get more exposure. I am sure he will learn a lot from working out with professional fighters," said Seymour.
Knowles left the Bahama Islands on Tuesday October 20th for the Florida camp. Before leaving he said he will focus mainly on developing his punching and jabbing speed, and being able to maintain that speed well into his fights.
In August Knowles became the first Bahamian to win a match at the AIBA World Championships when he beat Joseph Njogu from Kenya before being eliminated in the second round.   Now he wants to be the first Bahamian win an Olympic gold medal, “not just any medal” at the London 2012 Games.
